About the job

What is 01Founders?

01Founders is a new type of software engineering school, training students from zero digital skills to high-end full stack engineers in two years, through an innovative, peer-to-peer education model.

The model is free for students, teacher-less, gamified and project-based, based on the established pedagogy of 01Edu (the team behind Ecole42 and numerous successful coding schools worldwide), and supported by the brand and ecosystem of Founders Forum, Europe’s premier entrepreneur community and a family of businesses that exist to support entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey.

At 01Founders, we have an opportunity to remove financial barriers to high-quality digital education, looking to enable people all over the UK, from all walks of life, to learn how to code.

The school is entirely free for students and every student is guaranteed a job through a corporate partnership model. We will target segments of the population who wouldn’t ordinarily consider software engineering as a viable career path - given the high barriers to entry of traditional tertiary education.

Having secured Seed funding and initial corporate partners, we are currently building a team to launch the London school in Autumn 2021, with plans to expand nationwide shortly afterwards.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial and collaborative Student Engagement Associate to join the founding team of this business, find and support a community of learners, and help us upend the current software engineering education space.

The Role

Reporting directly into the Head of Operations, the Communications and Student Engagement Officer will be responsible for leading all student acquisition activities. In this role you will:

  • Build and develop our candidate acquisition and outreach strategy including proactively developing and building relationships with community organisations, schools and colleges on a day-to-day basis.
  • Develop and implement events and engagement strategies for candidates, including hackathons and other campus activities.
  • Engage with prospective community partners as potential event speakers and marketing channel partners.
  • Create the content and resources you need to deliver these engagements including marketing collateral for events and social media, and FAQs.
  • Track and report on the engagement and impact of marketing campaigns and student acquisition events to continually iterate and land our message.
  • Manage our presence on core social media channels.
  • Be our website guardian - informing and optimising our website copy, launching new pages, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Handle inbound enquiries from prospective candidates, maintaining an up to date candidate CRM database.
  • Manage the school’s official updates, partner and candidate communications.

Requirements

  • You are a self-starter who can learn quickly and master new skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a love of grammar
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with an appetite for work - we are a small team so we’re looking for enthusiasm and a can-do attitude
  • Experience of different social media channels and confidence experimenting with new ways to engage a community.
  • 3-4 years in a content, social media, marketing, administration, or community role
  • Knowledge of social media and analytics software (e.g. Hootsuite and Google Analytics)
  • Experience in planning and executing paid social media campaigns
  • Confidence in analysing data and reporting numbers

Benefits

Beyond joining the initial team of a revolutionary new coding school, we can offer:

  • £25 - £30 salary
  • Pension and insurance

We are looking for a Head of Training to help us plan, design, and produce world-class learning materials, both for virtual and in-person (in the future) training courses for our incredible community of Portfolio Professionals.

Who are we?

The Portfolio Collective (TPC) was set up by Ben Legg (former COO of Google Europe) in July of 2020 with our COO Fiona Chorlton-Voong and CTO Jesus Iniesta. We could see that the future of work has been and is being accelerated by the pandemic and decided to shape it for the better. You can learn more in our recent Future of Careers article.

Since we started: we have organised events, with over 1,000 participants; built a website, with over 20,000 unique visitors; built a professional network platform, with over 500 members; and produced the biggest library of content for portfolio professionals in the world. We have a team of 10 people (and growing) who are passionate about helping portfolio professionals to succeed.

What we are building and how you can help

The Head of Training will be responsible for planning, designing and producing world class learning materials, both for virtual and in-person (in the future) training courses for our incredible community of Portfolio Professionals.

This role covers the entire cycle of content development, from conducting the initial needs assessment to designing, testing, delivering, adjusting and measuring the impact of the instructional content.

Over time this role may evolve into a leadership role, leading a team of internal and external trainers and experts, with full accountability for this line of business within The Portfolio Collective.

You will report into Fiona Chorlton-Voong, Chief Operating Officer & Co-Founder.

Key tasks

  • Strategy. Working with our leadership team and subject matter experts, seek to understand portfolio professional learning needs and define our entire learning strategy and roadmap.
  • Design. Design and create end-to-end workshop and course structure and content.
  • Learning Management System. Leveraging our LMS (Learndash), create the resources required to  facilitate effective learning and to create a “world class” experience for our community.
  • Delivery. Ensure world class delivery and facilitation, in some cases doing it yourself, while in others working with subject matter experts and community members.
  • Analytics. Continuously monitor effectiveness of all activities in a data-driven way, generating and executing plans for improvement.
  • Financials. You will have profit & loss accountability for all paid learning offerings, so will need to understand the cost to design, fill & deliver courses, plus optimal pricing strategies to achieve the optimal balance of attendance and profitability.
  • Record Content. Appear and partake in video and podcast production. Deliver public speaking engagements as and when required.
  • Coaching. Engage in follow-on one to one coaching with community members.
  • Innovation. Using feedback, market research and interviews with subject matter experts, develop new modules, programs and implement new learning technologies and techniques.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Passion for helping professionals everywhere launch and sustain successful portfolio careers.
  • 5+ years of work experience in design and developing learning content for a large corporate or consulting organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in independently designing, developing, planning and implementing e-learning modules and virtual sessions.
  • Experience in the Management Consulting or Professional Services sectors is preferred, but we will also consider someone with E-Learning experience from within a multinational firm in any other sector.
  • Industry certifications in e-learning design and/or instructional design.
  • Proven understanding of learning principles, frameworks and tools relevant for designing blended programs.
  • Ability to balance dynamic work demands in a challenging, fast-paced start-up environment with numerous stakeholders to satisfy collaborating across different fields of expertise.
  • High self-motivation to lead your own mini-business and continually raise the bar.
  • Professionalism and attention to detail regarding course design and delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.

What can we offer you?

Alongside your salary, to be discussed upon application, and a role with the room to evolve, we also offer free lifetime access to the community we are building, and the opportunity to work alongside a top notch team with decades of experience in startups and unicorn building.

To apply, please email jobs@portfolio-collective.com  with your covering note and link to your LinkedIn profile. From there the process will include a screening survey, followed by case studies and interviews for those selected.

ERLY STAGE STUDIOS is a creative content studio, Headquartered out of London, United Kingdom at the lovely Somerset House. We have team members across the world from Hawaii to Manilla working to deliver exceptional marketing and content to our global clients and our own internal projects.

The Studio is organised into a few different lines of work:

> Content

> Social

> Games

> Technology

We are now looking for an exceptional marketing associate based out of London (or a commutable distance) to join our merry band of marketing misfits. Although we are a remote first company this role will later involve some events work which will require being on the ground in the UK. You will however be able to work between home, coffee shops (if great lattes are more your thing) and an occasional team meeting at HQ (quite rare, these days more likely to be a zoom call).

If you are excited about the world of entrepreneurship, startups and technology there is no better place for you than to join us in building out our latest venture www.erlystage2.wpengine.com a global publication and content business.

As a Marketing Associate you will be expected to fulfill a range of exciting duties across a broad range of marketing functions for instance:

- Creating newsletters

- Creating and managing social media accounts across a few strategic channels

- Creating short form and long form content

- Engaging with the target audience on channels which is mostly investors (institutional - that means VC funds and retail (peeps like you and us), startup enthusiasts and technologists (mostly developers and researchers)

- Working with Erlystage.com clients and helping them create exceptional and engaging content for their audiences also (entrepreneurs and large brands)

- Attending events (once it's safe to do so in London and if elsewhere, we would cover the cost of any transport or stay involved)

- Participating in strategy sessions and campaign planning

- Running marketing campaigns and managing leads and data (we will teach you how to run campaigns on social media platforms, use CRM systems and the latest in marketing stacks and 3rd party technology)

To smash this role you should:

- Be self motivated and keen on marketing, content and social media

- Love the world of startups and scaleups as well as technology

- Be a great writer (don’t worry we won’t hold using Grammarly to improve it even further against you. We all do the same! Why miss a comma if you don’t need to?)

- Be a bit of a social media maven; while we don’t expect you to be an influencer by the time you are done with this role you most likely will be a bit of a nano-influencer in the space

- Be organised and detail oriented

- Be an excellent written and verbal communicator (one that ideally does not use cat filters during zoom calls, animated backgrounds however are all the rage on zoom)

- Be a quick study on new platforms (appreciate Clubhouse and emerging social media as an influence on marketing)

- Be able to work with third parties (e.g. PR agencies); all this requires is a steady head on your shoulders, learning how to understand what is best for our business and our clients and how to give them some focus in more mainstream media (think about a journalist covering a story about something you are involved with)

- Be able to work with a broader distributed team across the world ranging from Artists in Manilla to game designers and builders in Chicago, UI/UX peeps in Karachi and Delhi and Animators in Budapest (we were not kidding when we said we were global!)

What do I need to get started?

Apply → Interview → If you are selected start 🙂

We want to make an offer as soon as March 1st, 2021.

There will only be 2 rounds of interviews:

Round 1: Culture and fit

Round 2: Deliverable creation (writing content)

What's the salary?

Competitive with entry level positions across the agency world (Living Wage +)

Is this only for full time applicants?

We believe in giving everyone a fair chance. If you are exceptional and can’t work the full week,

don't let that stop you from applying. But please don’t hold it against us if we manage to hire

someone who is able to work the full week, as that is the real need.

To throw your hat in the ring please send us a quick note over email on farid@erlystage2.wpengine.com or

add me on whatsapp on +447921161138 and start the conversation asap. We love go getters and would welcome a quick ping on a channel that works for you.

Thank you so much for reading this and for considering applying! Good luck.

Kind regards,

Farid Haque
